Check the belt that connects the mower deck to the engine. It may be broken or off one of the pulleys. It should become taut when the blade handle is engaged.

The belt is still in the right place and it is not engageing the blades.the lever seems to be broken or does it have a broken something.

The belt is still in the right place and it is not engageing the blades.the lever seems to be broken or does it have a broken something. The manual lever is very loose,I was cutting grass and it just stopped. The lever is loose but while cutting it was working normal and just quit turning the blades. The lever to engage the blades is very loose and goes down ,but it will not engage.
