I got a new kitchen sink and granite countertops today. I went to go figure out what I would need to get in order to hook the sink back up to the drain, etc - not thinking would be a big deal.

Hopefully can explain what my issue is clearly. I have pvc drain pipe coming out of the wall that was connected to my old sink and had a section coming off to connect my dishwasher.

Now, my new sink is much deeper and the sink drain hole is much further back in the sink (towards the wall) than the old one. So the sink drain hole is not basically right above the end of the pvc drain pipe coming out of the wall and slightly to the right of it.

I am at a lost here trying to figure out how I get a p trap set up with such limited space. The end of the drain pipe is about 5 inches from the bottom of my sink.

Any help is greatly appreciated! Something I can do or need a plumber? No clue there, thanks!

PVC is very forgiving. Where there is a will, there is a way. The bottom of the sink is above where the pipe goes into the wall? Can you angle the trap forward and enough to the left so the exit lines up with the pipe into the wall? If so, then you just need to cut the wall piece to length and assemble things. I think there are flexible traps too. If worst come to worst, and you do have to put an elbow in it, try not to use a 90 degree one. A 30 or 45 won't clog up as easily and will be easier to snake.

Is your new deep sink also an under the counter mount sink? Labman asked a very important question which must be addessed before we can help you, "sink is above where the pipe goes into the wall?" If you shorten the drain tube coming out of the sink to its shortest length that still accepts a P trap and the P trap lateral line is above or right on level with the pipe in the wall you will be OK. However, if the lateral pipe is even 1/4 lower than the pipe in the wall you have very big problem. Water doesn't like to run up hill. Check to see how the lateral and the pipe in the wall match up, which one is lower?

Yes, the sink is an undermount. I was thinking the same thing about cutting down the drain pipe coming out of the wall and also cutting down the pvc tube that attaches to the sink drain (with part to connect to dishwasher). I will cut that piece down and make sure that it is even or above the drain pipe, which it looks like it is. Like I said, there is about 5 inches from the top of the pipe to the bottom of the sink - going to be close, but think I will be okay.

Measure twice, cut once. Granite, under the counter and dishwasher make this issue 99% of the time. I had to make an illegal S trap and go through the floor.
