How much does it hurt to get blood drawn? What does it feel like? I really need to know

It doesn't hurt that bad, just a quick short jab and it's over.

Don't look until it's all over. One of my arms is easier than the other. But, then again, it doesn't bother me.

When you get blood drawn, does it have to be done in the vein of your arm?

Depends on the test. You can be drawn from the arm, the finger poke, a heel stick (usually done for infants), an arterial blood draw (used to measure respiratory gases). Most common, in the average lab, are either the arm poke or the finger poke.

A lot will depend on the tech doing the work. The best ones do it so easy you never know it is being done hardly till it is over. Just don't look.

I agree, don't look. It hardly hurts at all. There are things that happen to us everyday that hurt a lot worse and we hardly ever give those things much thought at all.

As Shy mentioned it does depend on why the test is being done. It is done in the vein of your arm because that is the easiest and least painful vein to draw from.
