I have a avi file it is opening in vlc media player but the size is huge because of some problem(the divx s/w is telling it is having codec problem) I need a software which is to convert or cut the AVI file so that I can able to operate it,I have downloaded some software and tried with this file but no one is working, the file is very important one so any body help me.

the avi file size is 1 gb but the playing time is only 12 mins.

VLC media player will not play large AVI files and it will give you that message you received (and many other players won't play that large a file either). So, do you want to split the file into pieces or convert it to a different format?
