Why are my smoke alarms randomly going off?

Dust and grease is the biggest culprit. Have any detectors near the kitchen?

I have seen powder used in bathrooms clog up detectors also, for example.

Detectors in basements are subjected to more dust than living areas.

You can try vacuuming the detectors. Sometimes blowing into the detector helps, but sometimes blowing only drives the dust deeper into the sensor head even more.

I am assuming you are not hearing the chirping that indicates the units need new batteries. Did you change all the batteries when the time changed recently? How old are the batteries?

If the batteries are new, and vacuuming does not solve the problem, and esp if the detectors are 10 years old or more, then replacing them with new detectors may be in order.
