I think it's likely that we will have a woman president. People are becoming much more open to the idea. We have a woman trying to get the Democratic nominee for president right now, so I think it's likely to happen at some point, if not this time. As to whether it will be a good idea, that depends entirely on the woman in question and her skills as a leader. There are female leaders now, and there have been throughout history, so no, I wouldn't be surprised at all if we have one in America soon.

Depends on the female!!
Id say your overestimating. It appears as though you're staring down the barrel of one in the next 12 months or so.

Yeah no doubt we will have one if more woman try for it. Just remember, don't vote for the gender, vote for the experience of the person.
I strongly don't like it when people vote for someone just because they are male or female.

There have been female leaders who have been a good example of leadership. Golda Meir is just one example. Women Political Leaders —Historical and Current — Infoplease.com (http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0801534.html)
Women have been in positions of influence and power for centuries - Women's History Month Features (http://www.infoplease.com/spot/womenshistory1.html) - so it is not a small stretch of the imagination to believe that one election, there will be a woman made President of the U.S. Hopefully though, the vote will be made for her intellect, strength, skills, and experience - not because she is a woman. Some people still do not know how to vote.

Sure. I think Condi Rice would make a great President. Margaret Thatcher made a terrific PM for the UK. Golda Meir was an effective PM for Israel, possibly one of the best they have ever had. Angela Merkel has been a great Chancellor for Germany.
My problem with Hilarious Rotten Clintoon is not her gender. She'd just make a lousy president.
So yes, I think a female President is likely to happen, I think it would be a good thing if it's the right person, and I have no problem with that fact. But again, the emphasis has to be on the qualifications of the candidate.

The real question is, can a man running against a woman be elected president?

Interesting question Elliot . Remember when Rick Lazio invaded her space in the NY Senatorial debate ? He was the bully picking on the woman .
Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago when she stumbled on the license issue. Immediately it was the 'all boys club ' attacking the woman. She wasted no time going to Wellesley College to try and exploit the downtrodden women image.
Then that dopy hubby of hers pointed his crooked finger at the camera and said she was being swift boated. I'm sure the faithful swooned at his chivalry .
Yeah it will take a real man to win against her .A Metrosexual like Obama or Edwards has troubles . They are afraid to confront her and have often used their wives as surrogates. You are right . I am sure Rudy won't care about offending her sensiblities .

Agreed. And furthermore, I have a feeling that at least half the country, if not more, will eventually get sick of her trying to hide behind her gender. Many women and most Republicans will basically say that if she can't take the heat of being attacked as a woman, she shouldn't be President. Such a tactic will backfire on her badly in a general election run, because unlike libs and Dems, the Reps and Cons and moderates won't let her get away with a "poor me" victim mentality. Most people don't like a President who acts like a victim. They want to see strength in a President. And if Hillary can't exhibit that level of strength and has to hide behind her gender, she's going to lose badly to Rudy, who is nobody's victim.
