Having problems with my Tempstar furnace, the blower fails to come on automatically when the oil burner starts up but can be turned on manually from the thermostat. I think the problem is intermittent.

Took a look at the blower, the windings were covered in 1/2 inch of dust but the fan itself looked OK and spins freely. I oiled the bearings and vacuumed out the windings and it seemed to fix it for a 1/2 day but then failed this morning. Could this be a capacitor or relay issue? Thanks in advance for any help.

The model # is NLOD084FF01, style # NLO84AF.

Check your capacitor with a meter, it could be bad, or weak, it should test to being close to the farrad rating marked on it... or with the heavy dust in the cooling ports of the motor you could have over heated the windings and damaged the motor, but the capacitor is the first thing to check and the cheapest to replace... if you don't have the proper meter to check it, take the cap to a HVAC parts store and get a replacement, and NOTE: don't touch the two ends until you short the two terminals together with a insulated screwdriver, to discharge the stored electrical charge!

I tried a new capacitor, same problem still happening. Thinking maybe the honeywell fan limit control? Are these known for getting dirty or going bad?
