I just turned 15 1/2 and I just went through drivers ed got my permit etc..
And I recently just started getting behind the wheel.. I don't think I'm that good of a driver
Maybe because I get really nervous behind the wheel
Suggestions?

Just relax, practice driving on less busy roads to help you get used to it, and you'll do fine. Practice is all that you need.

Practice, practice, practice. Take short trips at first. Stay out of heavy traffic. Find an empty parking lot (such as a corporate lot) and practice three-point turns, backing, parking between two markers, backing into a dock area, etc.

Yes as a new driver and you will not be that good yet, ability comes with practice.

I was 28 when I learned to drive well enough to get my license. I have been driving more than 30 years and still learn something new each day.

Not only must you be an alert driver, but you must also be a defensive one.

The biggest and most important thing I have learned to watch and keep in mind the movements of the cars behind me, in front of me, to the side of me, and approaching me. If I see brakelights go on even three or four cars ahead of me, I slow down and become more alert as to what is going on up there (another car merging? An accident? A lane change?).

If I decide to change lanes, I must know where all other cars are in relation to me. It's too easy to move into another lane right into the path of a car just behind you in your blind spot. For this reason, make sure your mirrors are adjusted correctly, all window areas are clear of snow/ice/leaves/condensation, and that you also check by turning your head quickly to see if anyone is behind you on the left (or right) as you change lanes.

My biggest gripe is drivers who don't clean their windows of stuff. Last winter I passed cars that had one little round space cleared for the driver to see straight ahead and all the other glass was snow-covered. Grrrrrrrrrrrr. Take the time to clear off ALL your glass, and keep it cleared!!

My new pet peeve is drivers on cell phones and text messaging, eating, doing their hair and makeup while driving, etc.

I just got my license as well. I was nervous the first few times I drove, but you definitely get used to it. Let go of your worries... I'm sure you're probably thinking, "Ah! I'm gonna hit something or someone!" But if you have another person in the car with you easing you through everythin, it definitely helps.

One major tip, don't have someone who will yell at you help you drive because it will just stress you out!

Good luck!
