, do you?TK,
Apart from the fact that I was unable to get a permit prior to doing the work, which I will attempt to rectify.
Last Saturday morning, My lady left the house and on the way out let me know that she was buying a stove & oven range. I asked her what width, she did not know, I asked her what the amperage was of the new unit, she did not know but she was sure I could handle it. So, I proceeded to remove the counter top range and cut cabinets out.
Saturday evening she gets back and tells me the stove will be in on Monday morning, I tell her I cannot get a permit to do the electrical work because Monday is a holiday. Debate followed.
Any way, with the unsuccessful debate out of the way, on Sunday I pulled the 30 amp breaker from the panel, removed the 30 amp surface mount receptacle and replaced the 10/2 wire with 8/3. I also installed a new 40 amp breaker and wall mounted four prong receptacle. At the main panel, I put Red and Black on the breaker and White and bare Ground on the shared Ground bus bar. My service drop is a 3 wire drop. Hot, Hot Ground.
Well the place is still standing and we've used the stove several times. I plan on asking for an inspection but I don't see the need for a permit, do you?
