Hello there, right I have been having this odd odour now for a long time. Ive had tests everything has come back normal. I get a white discharge that doesn't smell.. it looks normal to me. I have no itching or discomfort at all. I know this sounds vile but if I touch around my vulva I have quite a strong scent. Sometimes when I go to the toilet I can smell it on my clothes. Im very clean person. My ex boyfriend once told me that he could smell it sometimes that is when I got checked out - and I have nothing wrong with me! I have a new boyfriend now and he's never mentioned it to me.. but you can't help worrying. He always performs oral sex and doesn't seem to have a problem. But I'm unsure what else to do if all the test come back normal? This smell is driving me mad. I use a fem wash.. that helps for a short while, but then this vulva smell comes back. Its not a fish smell as such I would say a little. I can't describe it. Can anyone offer any advise?

Try adding some yogurt to your daily diet. Also try a white vinegar rinse. Vinegar is supposed to take the odors of just about anything away. Maybe someone else can offer you different/better advice.

Vinegar? What just add a little to some water? I am a clean person, its just so annoying because you don't know what is causing it - Ive had it now for about 2 years, I'm not sure if I have an allergy to something? Who knows! I will try the vinegar though! Thanks very much. :-)

I have had the same problem. My doc once told me it was a yeast infection but those aren't supposed to smell. And I never Itched or anything. Did the yeast infection treatment and it didn't help. So I am in the same boat. I can smell it on my clothes and hafta change my underwear a lot throughout the day... Not sure what to tell you... the vineger thing is like your own homeade doucshe by the way

Please don't douche, no matter what. That will only add to your problem. You see our vaginas have a natural flora to them that helps kill bacteria. If you douche you are washing away the normal vaginal flora opening you up to a wide variety of problems. Also the pH of the vaginal canal is very sensitive, douching will change the pH and make you susceptible to many many different types of infections.

Yeah I know... did I forget to mention that? I was just saying that girl who told her about vineger, that is what it is used for. I know someone who does it and I told them the same thing... in different words.

Shamrock I'm the girl that told her to use a vinegar rinse... Not a vinegar douche.

Its Shamrick. And that is fine but when you use a rinse for your vagina that is typically what it is called. Just trying to help. Thanks

Well I finally talked to my parter about it last night. I said that I had noticed this scent at times, but I will say AT TIMES because its not always there. He said he's not really noticed anything - maybe once or twice.. but said its nothing bad, just a bit different. Just thought it was because I hadn't showered before hand? He's not gone off sex with me though - every time I see him we sleep together and he practices oral. Im beginning to think that I may just be having a reaction to his fluids. Like I said I don't itch or have any discharge, only my normal fluid that does not smell. Its seems to be my vulva that has this scent, not actually inside?

I had a bacterial infection a few years back that caused such an odor. IT was the same thing that you are describing here. It DID turn out to be a bacterial infection caused by soap. That's right, soap... I guess I got some soap in there and it grew bacteria or something to that effect. But if you are still worried you should go visit another doctor for a second opinion and have them run tests for a bacterial infection... If this grows out of control it could be very very bad. Two years would be a long time have an infection.. I was given anti-biotics and the odor was gone within two weeks. Perhaps discuss this with your doctor.

Also, did your doctor rule out toxis shock syndrome? This can be caused for leaving a tampon in too long. I'm sure there are other causes for this syndrome, I'm just not sure what they are, I know that this is the main one.

Anyway, a second opinion from a doctor would be your best bet. Good luck!

I say wash three times a day r just as much as u can it's neva to much, and like u said use feminine wash. Every female has their own scent but it shouldn't be a fishy smell. But u should b okay if ur new man has been given u oral sex!!! So just stay clean and dont worry like da Italians say " 4get about it". Stay encouraged. Jah bless One love

We just had a medical expert on here tell her not to use feminine wash. And "forgetting about it" might not be the best idea. Obviously this issue is bothering her and the only way to put this to rest is to get a second opinion.

Thanks chihuahuaMomma! Well I'm on the pill Injection and have been for 4 years, I'm due to stop it next month as I don't think its healthy to not have a period for so long. So I doubt it will be toxic shock? When you say bacterial infection - those aren't sexually transmitted are they? Its funny you know, when I use soap the smell does seem to get worse around me.. but I have been tested for BV and came back negative! So I'm just using vagisil (is that right?) ha. Ill do what you said and seek a second opinion. I can smell something is different which is a sure sign that something, I don't know what though isn't right? Thanks for your help

You're welcome. I'm wondering if the Depo might have something to do with it... I don't know. I don't know too much about the shot. No, bacterial infections are not sexually transmitted. I would definitely suggest a second opinion. And you know, some women just naturally do have a stronger odor than others. It's just natural. I wish you the best. I hope you find the answers that you are looking for!

Ive thought that too? I've read thro info on the depro and nothing has ever been mentioned, but it is a strong hormone? Hummm I know what you are saying but I've never had this before, I've never really had a scent down there until about 2 years ago. Don't get me wrong its not there all the time. Just now and then. But thanks for your advice.

Yeah.. Two year's and nothing wrong, I have to admit when I was a bit younger I was a little... Let's say I'm experienced. Your boyfriend seems like a nice guy if he hasn't said anything and you think there is a problem enough to still get checked out, and use Vaginal washes. Some girls that are radiantly clean and could walk the finest cat walks have this problem, and as far as I have seen it will not go away too soon. It's true, some have it and some do not. I had a gf once who had it and it was an awkward smell. As you said "hard to explain" but she would buy a bottled dueshe{misspell?} and basically flush her self out with water and vinegar regularly. The problem was solved, and I was much happier! A little reluctant at first, lol JK But it really changed our relationship for the better. And for the record I never admitted that she had a problem, but I refused to go under the sea. And she figured me out! Good luck with this very very common and solvable problem.

Yeah I want to stay away from the flushing out system as I know it can do more harm than good. And its not inside where this scent comes from. Clean as a whistle in there haha. And my boyfriend did say that he hadn't really noticed anything - and when he did it wasn't bad at all. Still didn't mind going 'under the sea lol' as you call it! Im going to get a second opinion anyway - better safe than sorry! :-)

Of course get a second opinion. Well I went to do some research on this and I have come to the right guaranteed conclusion! Guy's have no business in these threads! I did see one thing about an over active gland that secretes an odd odour on men and woman, it's white and looks clear to the naked eye. It is quickly formed into a bacteria that everyone gets and it multiplies rapidly, eventually it becomes pretty evident nasally and some folks are more prone to secreting it than others. The longer it is left the worse it gets... You wouldn't imagine what I had to go through to find that. You have it easy! Anyway good luck! P.S Tomorrow J9 will be on here, she is a very intelligent health expert.

I've read all of the suggestion so far and all seem sound. However, I thought I would mention that nylon and other such materials are sometimes the cause of these kinds of things. Try wearing only cotton underwear. Maybe your body reacts to certain materials.

Yes I have read that myself, what I've started to do is not wear underwear in the day under my pants... see if that has any effect at all. Let down below breathe, I'm sat down most the day in a warm stuffy office and didn't know if that had anything to do with it.

Get a life n just leave other peoples answers alone! If u was a true expert trust me we u wouldn't be on this site. If I feel u that good go get bad to do this.

Whoa whoa whoa... not wearing underwear could cause chaffing. If you notice a new rash, that could be it... I really would suggest wearing underwear... Besides not wearing them I'm sure make this smell more prominent. I'm sure you are fine, though. Good luck LippyLou..
