Define "registering an interest"? On what grounds?

There are two things I'm aware of, one is placing a lien on the property. To be able to do that the lienholder must either have sued the homeowner and gotten a judgement against them, then used that judgement to obtain a court order to place the lien or show that they did work on the property that was unpaid.

The other is a lis pendens. This is a filing that there is a lawsuit pending that involves ownership of the property.

So for us to help you need to provide more info.

Hi thanks for replying Scott gem.

Her interest she has registered is that she put money in to the ie: Building works from a joint account but she says she paid for the lot and £2000 towards the deposit of the mortgage, even thought it is a joint bank acct and the mortgage is in my name solely.

Ahh this is in the UK (you should always mention your general location). Well you need to consult your solictor then. I'm not sure what the UK laws are. She would have to prove that she did provide funds that were used for the lot.
