I have an harbor breeze ceiling fan, with built in light kit,the fan switch broke into pieces, when I opened it up the 4 wires weren't into the {4 slots L123} on the new switch instructions are to follow steps in reverse of removing them.. . Is there a schematic or something out there to determine which slots they go into mamickey11182

You are talking about the pull chain switch, correct? Sure there is a schematic but the only one I have is from Ceilingfan repair. It would be inappropriate for me to give you his answer when he will catch this tomorrow. OK, lets also look at this sentence "the 4 wires weren't into the {4 slots L123} on the new switch " What were you trying to say, it doesn't come through to us the way you currently worded it.

Yes it is a chain switch, the switch has 4 slots on it, ands 4 holes on top of it also, they are labeled L123. There is a grey ,blk, purple,& brown wire, one has to be power, the others for speeds1,2 or 3. The old switch has the same holes on top of it L123 I don't know which ones go where. A ceiling fan repair schematic might in my judgement show this. Thank you for your response {ballengerb1}mamickey11182

And I stole this from Ceilingfanrepair's link above:
L - Black, 1 - Grey, 2 - Brown, 3 - Purple
If it doesn't work. It is most likely the Switch does not do identicle connections internally.

I would be willing to bet those connections are correct.

Sometimes I copy and paste from the link, sometimes I prefer to let people do a little work (reading) themselves.
