Someone gave me a Toro lawnmower (GTS-XL) it is a recycler and has self-propel assist on it, so when you push on the handle it engages the "self-propel" part of it.

The lawnmower sat in this persons crawlspace for a long time. When I got it, the fuel tank had a huge crack in it. I ordered the parts and replaced the fuel tank and the fuel line. Then I replaced the spark plug. There is a spark going to the spark plug, but how far it's going after that I have no idea. I can't get the engine to even turn over. I've sprayed carb& choke cleaner into the carburetor and that doesn't seem to help. There seems to be some oil leaking out into where the air-filter resides.

The cable that is attached to the handle (that keeps it running) seems to be in working order, so other than that I'm about out of ideas:confused: . I really need to look at a repair manual or something, or if someone can give me some advice I'd really appreciate it. Thanks

You have to take the carb apart and clean it. Bet there is a piece of fuel tank keeping the fuel valve open. You have to take it apart.

Put the carb and choke cleaner into the spark plug opening. See if it sputters at least once.

Oil in the air cleaner is caused by a defective oil breather. It may need to be cleaned or replaced.

I have an Troy-built lawn mower that requires me to use the handle to prime it a few times. Really weird.
