Hi,

I bought an assembled desktopn system comprising Gigabyte K8 Triton Motherboard, AMD 64 Athlon Processor(2800+) model,512 MB DDR, 80GB HDD, ATX Cabinet and other necessary things.

Now what I would like to know is:
1. Can I install Solaris OS on this System? I tried checking the AMD site but it doesn't mention anything about Solaris OS.
2. How would I know whether this hardware is supported or not??
3. Is there ne specific site mentioning these details and other issues if any?

Thanks in advance. If there is any information missing from my side pertaining to the System description please feel free to ask me.

SAI

This page seems to answer your question:

http://www.sun.com/software/solaris/specs.jsp

The Athlon 64 is considered an x86 processor.

Savistech,

Would you mind sharing why you decided to download Solaris on your PC? I am just curious.

Hi,

I've done my course on solaris administration, hence I wanted to download and practice before I market out myself.
