Hey, I'm an 18 year old living in Vancouver, BC. Recently, I was employed by Sportchek and I was asked to take part in a heist. Me and two other guys decided to take Sportchek merchandise and place it in a box and walk out with it.
On a Wednesday, we managed to walk out with about 4,000 worth of merchandise (about 700 of it was mine.). The following day, we were planning to do it again, this time, I wasn't actually in the heist, but I merely asked the other two people to grab the thing for me (pants and shorts totaling 100 dollars).
They were caught that day and had totaled 2600 dollars (100 dollars being mine). In the grand scheme of things, my total came out to be around 800 dollars worth of products out of 6,300 that was taken. I was extremely cooperative and told the constable everything that I knew.
I was released and this is my first offense and when I came in the store the following day, I admitted everything in front of them, gave them back all of the stuff that day with a notified letter of apology to the Store manager. Forzani Group ( the owner of Sportchek and others have decided to press charges.) Since I took $800 worth of products, is 18 years old, is my first time offense, the most honest out of all of them, and sent them a notified letter of apology.
How much punishment am I bound to get? Should I contact a lawyer?
