We are trying to fiugre out sometimes our furnace will run for 3-4 hours then it will not kick back on So we reset it again and then again it will run for a few hours and off again.
I can smell the oil and was wondering if it was the nozel could be wrong on it?
My Dad was my furnace man for years and passed away a few months ago. He talked my husband and I through fixing it last year because he was to sick. We wanted to try it ourselves again.
Thanks for any help

You probably need to tune up the burner. Replace the oil filter, nozzle, clean and regap the electrodes, check the high voltage ignition transformer for proper spark and voltage, check and adjust fuel oil pump pressure, check for proper safety device operation, set the air over the burner, adjust the flue damper etc. If you have all the proper tools and knowledge have at it. If not I recommend a qualified oil repair person to do the work. Oil is not as simple to work on as gas or electric.
