I am 21 years old and my sister is 14. Our father committed suicide and our mother is incarcerated for assault and assault with a firearm(to be blunt she pulled out a fully loaded revolver and cocked it at me while my sis was present). My mother has been 5 years sober until that night, but previous she was extremely abusive, addicted to drugs, has had 2 dui(1 of which my sis was in the car), she has no job, no educatin, no $, doesn't own a home and is in the middle of a divorce from her 5th husband. My sister has been nothing but an afterthought, or so it seems, in my mothers eyes. My mother also has a shopping addiction, she spent all of our fathers social security death benefits on clothes. My sister had been cutting herself under the supervision of my mother, who was very aware of this and still did nothing. Post gun battle, my sister did this again wherein I got her the proper tretment. Also to make matters more difficult my sister has been recently diagnosed with bi-polar disorder. This will be a very hard road but I am more than willing to put this child before myself. As far as I see it I have no choice. As far as I know I'm taking all the right steps, I have all the documents(account stubs, dui police reports... ect) and a ver helpful(sarcasm) Lawyer, but I want to be positive I will win for the safety of this child. If any has been in a situation anywhere near this or has any custody advice please do tell, anything would be appriciative!!

It did not tell me anything except for "goodluck". Although the time taken to answer is appriciated, it did not tell me much.
