I have received a judgement from a law office about 1 1/2 years ago. I have been paying the agreed upon amount for that time. I am currently not working and am collecting unemployment in New York State. I have told them my situation, but last week they put a restraining order on my bank account, and froze my bank accounts. They did remove it when I called them. They said I need to send something - I guess no matter how much each month and to keep in touch with them. I am going to have my unemployment money not be deposited to my checking account and am going to instead have them send me a direct payment card which would not go into my checking account. I will try to pay them something, but am afraid they will try this again.

I don't own a home - am living with friends - have an old car - 10 years old, no retirement or other savings accounts. I have a small investment account - about $500. Can they put a lien on my friends home, or take any other accounts I have.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

No, they can't take your friends home. Yes, they can levy on ANY bank account that you have.
