Hello. I have a 1977 chevy van that will not start. Battery is new, only a few months old. It ran fine a few weeks ago. It did sit without running for about a week when I attempted to start, it acts like it wants to but won't. The lights come on and the belts and fan turn but just won't kick over the whole way. I spoke to someone who told me to spray some carburetor cleaner and if it started, it could be a fuel pump issue. I did spray some carb cleaner around the carb walls and it almost started but stopped just short. I sprayed a little more and tried again, now it seems like the battery is drained because the belts and fan will not turn.

Thanks,
Tom

. Ensure battery is fully charged and connections are clean.
. Check all under-dash and under-hood fuses with a test light or multimeter.
. Check for spark at each plug.
. Test/replace Ignition Control Module and coil--AutoZone will do this for free.
. Review condition of spark plugs, distributor cap, rotor, and spark plug wires.

My 1977 Chevy Van did the same thing and needed a new fuel pump, battery and a good carb cleaning.
