I need some direction on this. I am helping a friend with their jacuzzi. When you turn on the motor it just hums. Is it because the water ports are jammed or plugged? Right now the side is tiled and unable to access and do not want to proceed without a good plan. Any guidance would be most appreciated.

"When you turn on the motor it just hums. Is it because the water ports are jammed or plugged?"
It's doubtful that plugged water ports would cause your problem. It's more likely that something got into the pump housing and jammed the impeller or that you have a motor winding that's gone bad.
"Right now the side is tiled and unable to access"
Are you saying you didn't leave any access at all to service the unit if necessary? Open up a way into the pump. Before you tear into the impeller housing take a pair of pliers and see if the motor shaft will turn free.
If it does then the problem's in the motor itself and will probably need to be replaced. Good luck, Tom

Like Tom says, you have got to get into it somehow. One more thing to check before replacing the motor is that some motors use a capacitor to start. If it has a capacitor, and the capacitor goes bad, it will hum instead of start. The capacitor may be metal with flat sides and rounded ends.
