Hi,

Can anyone tell me what the rules are regarding the lapsing of small claims judgements in Ontario, Canada? I received a judgement against someone in 1987. They disappeared shortly thereafter and have just now resurfaced. Can I enforce the judgement now?

Thanks in advance!

Ontario's Limitations Act was amended January 1, 2005. Before that time we believe that judgments remained enforceable for 20 years.

You may want to confirm with your local Small Claims Court a list of which can be found on our website Ontario Small Claims Court | Ontario Court Locations (http://www.justicematters.ca/Ontario_Court_Locations.html)
