Try reading Acts in the Bible. Christians are followers of Jesus so I would say Christianity started with the apostles.

Israel.
Matt 2:1-2
2:1 Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, 2 saying, "Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him."

The teachings of Jesus gave birth to Christianity that started from the Roman province of Palestine and spread to the rest of Europe and finally to the entire world. With time, Christianity has divided into three major branches - the Roman Catholics who trace their spiritual history to the early disciples of Jesus, Eastern Orthodox Church that was formed in the 4th century due to the political reasons, though, the two churches became officially separate in 1054 and the Protestants that split up from Roman Catholicism during the Reformation because of the differences and reformations that were introduced in the sixteenth and seventeenth century series in the doctrines and practices of the Church.
An interesting site on Distinct Religions and countries of origin is this one:

Im not sure but another interesting fact that I have read recently is that Iraq is the second most mentioned country in the Bible and that it has strong links to the beginning of Christianity.

Skell makes an awesome point. If we really want to trace Christianity back to its beginnings, we have to do the same with Judaism, which is what Christianity arose out of. Abraham is the earthly father of the Jewish faith, and his origin was in present-day Iraq.
However, if we are looking only for the origin of the movement of Christianity as we know it, then Israel would be the answer.
And a third option for those who dig technicalities: the word "Christian" was not used while Jesus was alive--it didn't gain use until well after the resurrection. The first place the word "Christian" (which means "little Christ") was used was at the church in Antioch---modern-day Syria.
So I guess you can take your pick from the above, depending on what you're looking for.
