My husband was convicted of a felony when he was 17, and charged as an adult. He has been working in areas that do not do background checks, and all of these areas have been hard labor (welding, etc.. ) He now has back problems, and is unable to do the hard labor anymore. We are looking into having his record expunged, but I do not think it is possible. Do most companies do background checks? I just don't know what to tell him to do. He is under the impression that nobody will hire him.

My husband has the same problem and yes it sucks a lot of them do and if you lie and they find out three mos later you get fired so i say that you are better off being honest or trying to seal the record which i know can be done... they told my husband 7 years but he has really bad felonies.good luck

Hello Miranda:

Felons have to work harder to get jobs. But, they CAN get them.
