Hi,
I recently moved from Florida. When I was there I started a lease for one year. I was there for four months until my boyfriend also on the lease lost his job. We looked for more work but couldn't find any. We were forced to move back to my moms house in Pennsylvania. We called and notified the landlord 15 days before moving,we were told that he was going to try and find someone to rerent to and to get the house really clean. We did this we fixed and marks on the carpet and re painted any scuffs also cleaned the whole house. Today we got a letter stating they were going to charge us the remander of the lease and for October they were taking last months rent. Even though we moved sept. 28. Im just trying to find out what if anything we can do? Thank you

There is not much you can do. You signed a 1 year lease and you broke the lease. The landlord promised to try and find a new tenant (In Fl they are not required to), but until they do you are on the hook for the rent.

You should have found out your options before you broke the lease. You can try seeing if you can sublet, you can try helping the landlord find a new tenant or you can negotiate a buyout settlement. But unless they agree to a buyout or a new tenant is found you are responsible for the rental.
