Then that means that your best friend really isn't a friend at all for him or her to act that way towards you.. I call that a hypocrite.. I understand how you must be feeling having someone like your best friend talk bad behind your back- I too have had friends as well as best friends talk things behind my back and I past through much pain finding out later.. I learned that in real life there is no such things as "best friends" I always believed that your real friends are your family.. hope this advice helped in a way

If your "friend" is willing to make you cry, make you hate yourself or whatever she/he spread around then honestly she/he isn't your friend at all. Your true friends have your best interests at heart and wouldn't dare spread rumors about you. So I think you should just be distant friends. I know it will be hard, I've had to do it several times, but its much better after it happens and you don't have to worry all the time.
