I had overstayed my US visa. Now I am back to my country. I am getting married to a US citizen and plan to move to US. Do you know if my prior overstay in the country could jeopordize my application.

It would depend if it was documented. Basically they have no way of knowing you left the US late unless you were issued a visa and told to report to US immigration on your way out of the US.

So in general no, but they have ways of finding out if they decide to look over your application very closely.

Hello there sorry to say it this way but there is a suspension period for people that overstay their visa the last time I checked it was 5 years I was about to leave the country after overstaying my visa when I made the discovery it scared me to be held prisoner somewhere I did,nt see myself living for 5 years if I was you I would have check into that before leaving I an surprise by your decision. There are penalties for the violation and that's the price ins wast us to pay for overstaying. That will come up the next time you try to apply to leave your country
