Ok here is my question I bought my house about 2 months ago. The lady painted over the wall thermostat to the base board heater. When I took the Cover off to remove the paint the knobs broke(I assume do to age) and the heat was constantly on. I removed the thermostate because it was summer. I am know trying to replace the thermostt with new ones. My house is about 30 years old and I know current code requires LV2 double pole (live in the US). I do not know when this took affect. Any way the ones removed were LV1 single pole. How do I replace LV1 with LV2 is this possible or not. In the juction box it has what I assume is the line from the breaker box and the other to the heater. I want to replace with LV2 because I like the fact the when it is off there is no power to the heater.

The two wire feed from the panel will connect to the two LINE connections on the stat, the two wires going to the heater will connect to the LOAD on the stat.

Connect all green or bare grounds together and the green screw on the stat.
