I have an intermittent, but recurring, problem in Excel 2003 running under Windows XP

While I am working in a spreadsheet:

- cannot move from cell to cell
- moving the mouse "blocks" an area on the screen (scroll lock is off)
- it starts scrolling down & will not stop
- the only way that I can exit is via Task Manager
- have to restart the PC in order to get back into a functional copy of Excel
- I am typically running Outlook and IE at the same time as Excel

Have downloaded all product updates; have had Excel deleted from the PC and reloaded.
The problem went away for a while after the reload, but has now returned.

Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks

Bob:)

Have you contacted MS about this, have you searched MSDN knowledge base about this also. There are Excel Foums also available.

cellMatrix.net (http://cellmatrix.net/index.php/site/links/)

Try to ask for help on some of these also. Have you tried uninstalling your mouse and keyboard software, I know the drivers are built into every XP for everything and you don't normally need to load drivers for these things, try another mouse and keyboard set from a different maker, swap with a friend for a little while.

"moving the mouse "blocks" an area on the screen" - I've had this many times. Usually, one of the shift keys is stuck. Tap (or tap harder) on the shift keys to "unstick" it.
