Your post is confusing, Drains aren't typically copper. There are rigid and flexible rubber couplings to go from 1.5" pipe to PVC.

There are also fitting to go from copper to PVC/CPVC for the water supply.

They make pvc Fittings for your job and you can hook PVC tail stock on sink

Then a PVC P trap and Then connect to the 1 1/2" PVC drain line...

I really like working with PVC -- Best thing since sliced bread!!

PVC can be used to plumb water lines -- flex lines to faucet

Yes, you may use PVC. However, you must first convert to PVC. You will need to solder on a 1 1/2" copper male threaded adapter on the copper stubout and convert to PVC with a PVC 1 1/2" female threaded adapter. From there it's PVC all the way. Cheers, Tom

How extensive of a job is this? Where is the transition going to be? If it is inside the wall, I think you have no choice but to solder as Tom said. If you are still going into the wall in the same place, it may have a threaded copper joint already. My house is plumbed up with copper drain pipes, but under the sinks, I have chrome plated brass with compression fittings. If you are still going into the wall in the same place, you may be able to run all PVC from there to the sink.

Tru-dat! Rubber couplings and compression fittings are not allowed in the walls. Does any body know if Sharkbite fittings are allowed?

A shielded coupling like a CK-115, which is designed to transition from 1-1/2" steel, plastic or cast iron to 1-1/2" copper DWV can be used inside the wall for drainage piping.

As for the water piping, yes, Sharkbite fittings are permitted for concealed locations.
