My cat is old, he's probably 10 years old, or older. He's always had problems with his eyes and discharge and we've cleaned the goo out of his eyes everyday. It can't be comfortable! Just recently, it's gotten almost red around the eyelid and it's more of a liquid discharge and it looks painful, I'm worried about him. We can't afford a vet, but we have always taken GREAT care of him. I'm just scared that this might be something to do with old age. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you.

Have you checked his ears, sometimes with an ear infection they will have a discharge from their eyes. Truly the only way to help your cat is to take him to the vet.
We have vets in the Cincinnati/northern Kentucky area that charge as little as 19 dollars for a office visit. I am sure that other large cities may have them as well.
Sell a few items, donate blood for cash... have a yard sale, work over time, babysit you would be surprised with how much money you can come up with.

Check with an animal shelter in your area. They will tell you about vets who will charge very little just to help a sick cat or dog if the family can't afford regular vet service.
I agree with bushg. Your cat needs to go to the kitty doc-doc. (And ten years old isn't that old, by the way. Indoor cats can live into their 20s.)

Holler if you have no luck finding one that's afforable. I might be able to help you find one through the cat shelter I volunteer at. The shelters network with each other and with vets all over the U.S.
