Remove the softner dispenser. Remove the cap with the bow tie on it. Remove the 7/16 bolt and lift the agitator off.

After you remove the fabric softner dispenser, you should see a cap, twist it and pull up. The little grips on it look like a bow tie. Under this you will find the 7/16 bolt

When I remove the fabric softener dispenser and it's about 1 feet long.. and it has a very small basket like filter at bottom.. and after removing the F S Dispenser I do not see any grips.. I wish I could show you how it look like.. Is there any way I could send you a picture how it look inside..

The bottom piece will have to be removed. Is there a slot for a screw driver to remove? I guess whirlpool didn't make the model for sears

It's a Frigidaire made by Kenmore. Sounds like the agitator may have corroded underneath. Unless you can break it free, you may have to bust the agitator to get it off. Sounds ridicules, but they weren't made of the best quality. Units are made for efficiency not durability. Good luck.
