I remodeled my kitchen a few months ago. Since I was going to have the water off in the kitchen for sometime, and I didn't have shut off valves at my kitchen sink, my son installed one for the hot water and one for the cold. After the water was turned back on, the water tastes foul. I had thought maybe there was some crud in the water pipes that would eventually work it's way out, but it's been several months and the water still tastes bad. You can't even make coffee with it... also, my ice cubes taste bad... even though my refrigerator has a filter that I change 2x a year (as recommended)
Help... I won't even make soup with the water... it's that bad.

See if you can get water as close to the Meter as possible, maybe an outside faucet.
If something got into Water Heater, It would keep diluting. Don't know if draining would help?
Does the Hot and Cold water Taste Bad.
Maybe Verify Filter.

The first thing I would do is check the water at the meter. Maybe the water enterng the home also tastes foul. Does the water in your bathroom sink taste the same way?

The water in the bathrooms taste fine... it's just the water in the kitchen. I have drained the hot water heater since then since I know that a lot of sediment will get in them and shorten their life... any other suggestions?

There is a lot of information on the net about plastic piping altering the taste of the water. It seems that it will go away in time.

I would replace Filter Assembly. IF filter is for Sink and Ice Cubes.
