I recently downloaded several movies on Kazaa and thought they had vanished but today I found them in my shared folder as DAT files, how can I change the file type so I can watch the movies?

Since most current movies are copyright protected and KaZaa is primarily used for piracy, I, for one, will not help with such a question.

I didn't ask for your opinion re file sharing and no-one said they were new movies. Anyway I figured it out for myself.

It doesn't matter whether you asked my opinion or not. By posting a question on a public board, you invite comment on that question.

As for them being "new movies" or not, as far as I am aware just about every commercial film since talkies (and many silents) are still under copyright protection.
