I just bought a new home and the Basement has a place for the toilet and one drain pipe coming out of the concrete. There is also a vent pipe in the wall. My question is- How can I use the existing drain pipe to add both a shower and a sink? Do I need to bust the concrete and add another drain? Please help, not sure how to do this.
Thanks,
Mollyh

If that is all they gave you breaking concrete is in order. It is odd to rough in just a toilet since many codes require a sink within a few feet. Take a hammer and go around in a 4 ' radius tapping on the floor. You are looking for a hallow spot that may indicate another drain. Another possiiblity would be to raise the new bath up about 9" to give a false floor and room to pipe all your fixtures.

Thank you for getting yo me so promptly. Another question--Is it possible to use the vent pipe for the sink drain?

Yes, that would be a wet vent, just be sure to properly trap all of your fixtures.
