:confused: In regards to question asked by 1936 roadster on oct.7 2007 @ 11:34pm. I have a 220 volt 50 amp. 6 ga. 4 conductor electric wire that is about 6 feet to short to reach new location. Does the nec permit in line splices? Do they have to be staggered? Do they have to be enclosed. This line comes from the service panel and goes to the electric range. Thanks for any help you can give.

Any splice(s) needs to be enclosed in an approved junction box with a cover. Inline splices are allowed, but why use them?

You can use blue wirenuts for two #6.

You need a minimum of a 4-11/16" square junction box.
