I would like some other opinions on this. I was in a car accident that was clearly the others fault for running a red light. My medical plus loss wages is close to $7,000. My attorney demanded $20,000. The other insurance company counters with $8,500. Should I be really insulted by this? Is this normal. Is my attorney bad for even bringing this to me and not automatically countering because of the absurdity of the amount?

You can't even start to accept his, your attorney will get 1/3 most likely meaning he will get close to 3,000 of this, so you will only get about 5500.

The 8500 would be a fair offer if you did not have an attorney. Your attorny can not "automaticly" do anything unless you gave him permission to reject any offer under a certain amount. He is requuired to inform you of offers. Most likely in the end you will end up with about your 7000 and the attorney will get his 3 or 4 thousand and a final offer of about about 10500 to 11,000. But this is just a guess.

Actually, your attorney is GOOD. He's represents YOU. He is obligated to bring ALL offers to YOU. He can't make decisions for YOU.

Should you feel offended?? No.
