My roommate has been diagnosed with MRSA Staph infection. She has boils and one burst. She went to the doctor and he told her she has this and also developed pneummonia because of it. I want to know how contagious this is because I live in the same apartment as her.

It is contagious and you absolutely do not want it. I would separate dishes and cutlery just be very clean within yourself. Do not use anything of hers.

MRSA is very contagious. If she has developed pneumonia because of this she most likely should be in the hospital. This is one of the rare times that MRSA can be transmitted via the airborne route.

Until that time, do not share towels, clothes, etc. Wash hands extremely frequently, do not touch her. Make yourself aware of any open wounds you may have.

I don't mean to scare you, but MRSA (methacillin resistance staphylococcus aureus) is a very serious illness and should not be taken lightly as it is resistant to many potent antibiotics.

My husband has had MRSA twice within the last few months & we still slept in the same bed & did everything else that we normally did & I never got it.
