I have a whirlpool gas furnace with a 110 volt fan motor. After the unit runs through a cycle, the burners will turn off but the fan will continue to run. The only way it will stop is to remove the front cover which will stop the motor or unplug the unit. It seems like it only malfunctions after it gets hot.

If the unit has not run for a long period like overnight, the fan will work properly. I checked but could not find a model number. The furnace is an older model though. Thank you for your help.

Sounds to me your fan/limit switch is faulty. Do you see a silver box in the firewall of the unit it is about 2" by 4"
