My dachshund is about 8 years old and was doing just great. On Sunday afternoon I noticed he was moving slow. I looked at him closely and his back hips were smaller than normal. This came on real quick. I've had a German Shepherd that lost her back hips but it was over a long length of time. My little dog seem to happen over night. He is still eating but does not want to walk around just lay in his bed. What can I do?

I would see the vet. Before you go, evaluate him using LongLiveYourDog.com - Life Span Study - Rate Your Dog (http://www.longliveyourdog.com/twoplus/RateYourDog.aspx) have the vet confirm you judgment. Although Dachshunds are prone to back trouble, being over weight hurts any dog. If he is overweight, cut back on what you are feeding him.

Donald, please listen to what labman is stating. Weight management for a doxie is so very important to keeping them mobile. We recently had another person with the same issue. Click on the link for more info: https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/dogs/dachshund-back-problems-143256.html
We actually see this question/problem at least a few times a month, if not more. Some days it seems as if it is pouring doxie issues.
