I recently purchased a 2001 Nissan pathfinder... it has all the bells and whistles... and my husband was impressed I wasn't! It was OK... but it gets horrible gas mileage, and it has a blown head gasket (I told them the next morning and they won't fix it), it is bad bad bad. I want to trade it in for a different car any suggestions on how to do that.

Try checking to see if it qualifies for the lemon law in your state.
In my state if it is within 10 years old and you paid over $1,000. You qualify

Unless you got a warrantee, the car was sold "as is". That means you have no recourse.

Of course, they'll trade it for another one just like you were a new customer, but I wouldn't do business with them anymore.

Lemon laws apply only to dealer's, but it sounds like you got it from one. If it truly was sold to you with a blown head gasket, the dealer should fix it. Check the lemon laws for your state about that.

As for mileage, what mileage did you expect? I had a 1999 Pathfinder, purchased new. It was a great vehicle but it got 11-17 MPG. So, I had to let it go when the lease expired.

I had a friend who bought a lemon,she couldn't get the lemon law to apply(for whatever reason) and took matters into her own hands,She printed the store name and location,sales rep and reason(I BOUGHT A LEMON FROM... )and posted it in her cars windows till the dealer made her a deal about fixing it,they did a shady deal,she got them back!

You might have a case based on the blown head gasket, depending on how the lemon law is written in your state. The gas milage is a non-starter... you had plenty of time to research that before buying the car.

Gas mileage is no deal; blown head gasket if you didn't do something to cause that (and I know zip about cars) and this is a recent purchase should be the responsibility of the dealer. What State are you in? All lemon laws are different.

I bought a brand new car, had nothing but problems. Took it in 4 times for the same problem, never repaired it, I went directly to the manufacturer and to the Automotive Arbitration people - got all my money back, bought another make.
