I have a craftsman Kohler Pro 16.5 ridable lawn mower. The lawn mower will start when I depressed the left clutch pedal but once I release pedal lawn mower shuts down. The mower had no problem the day before. I checked the gas lines and they are not clogged.. the carb is new this season.. battery is new as well... ANY SUGGESTIONS??

You probably have pictured that there is a switch on the mower deck that kills the mower in certain circumstances. There is also a switch under your seat so the blades can't be engaged without you sitting on the mower. I would check that switch next. The mower doesn't think you arew sitting in your seat so it kills the engine.

Sounds like a safety switch as indicated by ballengerb suggested. Let us know what you find.
