Just ripped up the carpet and stripped glue off my solid slab in living room. I then rented a concrete machine and ran it over the top of the concrete to make it smooth. My concrete still has stuff ( Glue / Stains ) on it but its nice an smooth. Question is:

1. Should I rent a wet dry grinder tip from lowers and keep grinding the floor until its imaculant

Or

2. Do the concrete overlay thing that gets the acid spray on it.

My goal is to decorate the concrete however is most logical. Please give me some suggestions. All I want is a solid nice looking stain on the floor. It can be stained washed or polished, I don't care. Just do not know enough about decorative concrete

Flboy0638, GO to Lowe's to paint dept. tell them what you have , what you have done so faar, I believe that there is a chemical that you can use by just rolling, moping on the floor let it set as per instrutions on container.then I believe you just mop up or use a floor scraper that like a stright hoe Ive seen the stuff used but it's been years since I just know it worked for removeing ,glue stain paint. If you can't get good results from who's working , go to the construction desk hope this helps .good luck F.B.E.

If you haven't ground off the 'cream' from the surface of the concrete, you have a chance to make a wonderful stained floor. Several products are now available, from acid, to ecological, to concrete stain... Read up and go with what is good for your level of DIY talent. Consider scoring the concrete to make it look even more custom. Use at least a straight edge and wet cut the surface in a nice, large, simple pattern with a room border and people will be complimenting you for years to come. I did it in my living room ten years ago and still love it.:)

Seems like you cleaned the concrete well so you could stain it with concrete stain or prime it with tinted concrete primer and after it's dry and cured tape it off with masking tape in whatever design you want and paint with 1 part epoxy for garage floors. The primer color will act like grout lines after you put on 2 coats of epoxy. Wait 24 hrs between coats and 72 hrs for sealer. Remove the tape after second coat of epoxy (or stain)and seal with 3 coats of ZEP Floor Sealer and the 3 coats of ZEP High Traffic Floor Finish both available at Home Depot. Wait about 30 minutes between coats.
