I have a Montgomery Ward sewing machine head and I'm trying to learn more about it... the year, the value, etc. The label on the machine says "Precision built for Montgomery Ward Made in Japan." Model # UR 185 B
Serial # 55X
Volts 110-120
Cycles 25-60
Thanks for any information you can furnish.

I think you may have taken the info from the motor. Flip up the machine and look underneath. There should be a serial number and a JA number. Since it is a Japanese machine it was made after the 50's. National was a domestic sewing machine company and made all Montgomery Wards' machines until the 50's.
vintagejapanesesewingmachines Yahoo group has a lot of info in the files regarding Japanese sewing machines.
