At my job we have around 30 pc's running windows xp pro and do not have a file server. Is there any good way to backup the files from these computers even though we don't have a file server.

a) Back up your files on someone else's hard drive
b) burn to CD/DVD

A file server provides a central place to store shared files. There are many advantages to a file server, one being that it can be backed up regularly.

However, there are several options for backups. You need to define what you want to backup, for what purpose how frequently and how much storage will be necessary. With such info we can recommend an appropriate backup policy.

Hi,
Are you the Administrator for your company? In charge of all these computers?
If so, please call a computer specialist, or technician in your local area familiar with backups. They can suggest ways, costs, when it can be done, and supply you with some good information. They can determine what you need to do, and how to do it. Setting up something like this on your own could be costly, and should major problems arise, you wouldn't have anyone familiar with it to help. Letting a computer company near you do it has the advantage of "being there" when you need help after it is installed. Many will be there 24 hrs a day, anytime, if an emergency.
I do wish you the best.
