Democrat Pete Stark of California had some interesting comments on the SCHIP debate:

"The Republicans are worried that they can't pay for insuring an additional 10 million children. They sure don't care about finding $200 billion to fight the illegal war in Iraq. Where are you going to get that money? Are you going to tell us lies like you're telling us today? Is that how you're going to fund the war? You don't have money to fund the war or children. But you're going to spend it to blow up innocent people if he can get enough kids to grow old enough for you to send to Iraq to get their heads blown off for the President's amusement."

CNN is reporting "88% of those voting (http://rawstory.com/news/2007/CNN_Poll_88_say_Rep._Stark_1019.html) in their Friday morning online poll say there is no reason Rep. Pete Stark (D-CA) should apologize for remarks blasting President Bush on the floor of the House of Representatives."

Keith Olbermann had his typical take on things (http://newsbusters.org/blogs/brad-wilmouth/2007/10/19/olbermann-suggests-bush-hates-kids-pete-stark-refreshing):

Which of these stories will you be talking about tomorrow? Why does President Bush hate American kids?

He also called Bush "bankrupt" while saying Stark was "refreshing."

Even Pelosi called Stark's comments "inappropriate." What do YOU think?

When I read this sort of prose it immediately turns me off if it is from a politician. It makes me wonder how in the world the author expects to be taken seriously. The only effective place for this is on a comedy show. Stark is badly in need of a Political Consultant, because the one he has now is an Idiot, or is being ignored.

This stuff is nothing new for Stark

In 1990, Stark told Health and Human Services Director Louis Sullivan, an African American, that he was a disgrace to his race.

In 2001, Stark made a reference to the children of Rep. J.C. Watts all being "born out of wedlock."

He accused Rep. Nancy Johnson of being a "whore for the insurance industry.

Stark, called Rep. Scott McInnis"a little wimp" and a "little fruitcake" -- and suggested the two should step outside. Capitol police were called into the hearing .

Pete Stark's tiring tirades (http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/chronicle/archive/2003/07/23/ED251350.DTL)

Stark is another back bencher that San Fran Nan has to put in place. Seems there is a lot of undiscipline within the ranks. She has spent an inordinent amt. of time it seems dealing with reps with their own agendas .Right before the SCHIP vote House Appropriations Committee Chairman David Obey decided to unveil an Iraq "war tax" that briefly distracted from the attention Madam Mimi want to focus on SCHIP. Pelosi was forced to smackdown the proposal .TheHill.com - Pelosi nixes idea of 'war tax' (http://thehill.com/leading-the-news/pelosi-nixes-idea-of-war-tax-2007-10-02.html)

It is nice that she gave a mild rebuke to his off the wall melt down on the floor . I have yet to hear a thing from the major Democrat Presidential candidates. I would like to hear them distance themselves from his outrageous comments.Pelosi also realizes that Democrats will be painted as supporting this kind of ridiculous rhetoric if they say nothing... do they not ?

Perhaps it's more important to please their moonbat base .Daily Kos :: Comments Pete Stark:  "Bush just likes to blow things up" (http://www.dailykos.com/comments/2007/10/18/12258/878/312#c312)

And now he's the Kossacks "Man of the Day, Week, Month heck maybe the YEAR." I wonder how many other Dems have their own diaries at Kos.

Yes, Stark is indeed loony.

Forget the fact that S-CHIP doesn't do what it purports to do. Forget the fact that it is giving money to families, including adults, that are earning more than $80,000 per year. What does the S-CHIP program have to do with the War in Iraq? The funding sources are completely separate. The funding of one does not affect the funding of the other. So the only purpose in making this tirade was to bash Bush. There clearly was no other reason for it.

BDS is alive and well in Congress.

As for what Keith Overbite says... who really cares what he says or thinks, aside from both watchers of his program? Can a TV news program really get negative ratings? Would that indicate that even people not yet born aren't watching "Countdown To Low Ratings"?

I'll give Overbite credit for having at least 14 viewers. What irritates me is now his mug is all over Sunday Night Football.
