I have a 2000 Honda Accord LX. My brake lights are not working. I was in a car accident in 8/2007 and I was rear ended. I had the body of my car worked on. I noticed this week that my brake lights weren't working. I took it back to the body shop because they made some errors in the body work of my bumper and I asked them could I please check out why my brake lights aren't working. They told me it wasn't the fuse, I didn't need any lights and everything appeared to be connected OK.

My question is: Based on the information above why else wouldn't my brake lights work? They wanted to take it to the service center for diagnostics but I really do not have the funds right now. Can someone give idea what this is and if its going to be an expensive problem.

Thanks

They may have painted over the ground point, regardless it's their job to fix it, did you use insurance or the other guys insurance, the shop needs to do a readjustment to get paid to fix your problem, free to you unless its your fault for the accident, many body shops don't have electricians.
