We have a Kenmore electric dryer. I just cleaned out the vent duct and filter of lint. Now my wife says that the clothes, especially jeans, take longer to dry although the dryer heats up normal and she is not finding lint on the filter.
The dryer is in the basement and the duct vent is long and runs up to the outside vent - after I cleaned the vent duct from the bottom, I went out and cleaned it from the outside but think I may have pushed some lint back down, if there was any, although there is heated air flowing through.

Please give me a suggestion as to what might be the problem.

Thanks,

Rich

Did you remove the blower housing and clean the lint out of it? Much lint does gather there and will reduce air flow, thus taking longer to dry. A long run could also do this but if it has been drying properly in the past , I tend to believe the blower area is clogged.

Hey Rich, here is what not to tell her, say its her imagination, they love that one. I'm am thinking you still have some lint in that duct. To test just disconncet it for a load. The electric dryer does need to be vented for safety since there are no fumes, just moisture and lint. If the next load dryes quickly tell you wife it is still her imagination, no just kidding. How long is the duct and is it a galvanized stove pipe of a flexible silver or white hose?
