I got my belly pierced over the summer and it seems like there's less and less skin there and the barbell I have in the stem looks really long and ugly like that. I have a lot of skin there for the piercing but not that much. I really want to take it out and let it close so I could get it re-pierced with more skin. So how long does it take for the hole to close and how long should I wait for them to pierce it again? Thanks!

Do you still have the barbell in that you got it pierced with? They tend to be a little longer than normal jewelry. If you still have the one you got it pierced with in, try changing it. You might be a little happier with the results.

If you do decide to take it out and get it completely redone, wait about 3 or 4 months. Its best to wait for the previous hole to be completely healed, this way you don't have any unneeded complications.

No I changed it 6 weeks after I got it pierced and put a new belly ring in that I bought at the mall and I took a mirror to look at the bottom hole and it looks like its coming out a little bit like the belly ring isn't where it was pierced at. I don't know if that makes any sense but I don't know how to explain it

The piercing may not suit your skin
It may be growing out my brother had his eye brow done
And it started to grow out I'm thinking maybe that's what's happening here...
Was the belly ring your purchased smaller than the one you had it done with?
Your best bet would be to buy the smallest one possible that will fit..
It will hurt a lot more and be a bit harder to do if you take it out and get it re-done because of the hard tissue that would have formed...
If your not sure go to the place that done it for you and ask them about it there sure to know what's going on
Good luck with it

There's a thing called rejection/migration
It can happen to you surface pierceing and all it is, your body doesn't feel like that belongs there and it pushes it out. If your noticing less and less skin you should take it out because that happened to mine and I didn't take it out and now I have a red scar that will be there forever. If your still somewhat young take it out and then wait a few years and get it done again, that way you know your bodys finished growing, and if it still gets rejected then your body just isn't good with peircings...
Good luck

I have to gt an MRI done tomorrow and the doctors are MAKING me take out all jewellery. I just got my belly button and cartlige pierced three weeks ago. I have a retainer to put in while they do the MRI. Will that be okay to use? I just don't want it to grow back up

This is happening to me, and I'm not sure whether to let my belly close up and get it repierced in the summer, because at the momemnt I only have a tiny bit of skin left and my belly bars look so big *-)

I'm having the same problem, I got my belly button pierced the first time when I was 18 and it got infected and my belly ring fell out so I went to the doctor and he gave me oniment to put on my skin to heal it after it healed I got it re pierced it healed nicely but then a year has passed and the skin looks thinner and looking at pictures girls have a lot of skin with their ring and I don't so I decided to take my ring out and wait till it closes so I can get it re pierced because I really want my belly button pierced I feel naked without my ring =P.

The same thing happened with mine; my body rejected it. A friend and I got ours done at the same time, and hers is fine. I started noticing less and less skin covering the ring, so I decided to take it out, and now there's a scar there.

I got my belly button pierced when I was 14, and I've kept it in ever since, but now it looks like there's a lot less skin that's pierced than there used to be.. I've had it in for 4 years. How long should I wait to get it re-pierced? I don't like not having my ring in

My mom was a horrible rejection case. I got mine done about a month ago and its doing good but its really crooked and not even in the right spot, he also came out higher then he dotted so now its growing down for the fit I want and it looks disgusting. I'm probably going to take it out and gete it redone somewhere else... I don't know yet

Heeeey :) ehm that happened me and my skin nearly snapped. Its because your bidy rejected the piercing. Take it out straight away or else it will snap. I've had mine out for like a week now and going to wait about 2 months. It depends how quick it heals and I wouldn't get it done very soon cause it could happen again. Hope this helped.

The same thing is happening to me
I've had mine pierced for over a year and there is barely any skin
But they used a circular ring to pierce mine and I already noticed that there was only a little bit of skin
So I'm taking it out and getting it re pierced when it closes
How long does that usually take?

When I was 13 I was really dumb and thought I could pierce my bellky buttom myself with a safety pin and an ear ring... yah dumb. Well I took that out because of the obvious reasons then when I turned 14 I gor it done professionally and about a month after having it, it rejected. I got it done again a year later and it rejected again. There are a couple of things that could cause this (this is what I have been told by a piercer) 1. you need to wait until your at least 18 because I made the mistake of being to young now I have an ugly scar there. You have to be fully grown. 2. you could be allergic. 3. if your bend line is horizontal across your belly button don't get it done because that's where your body moves all the time and you'll snag it a lot (so you risk the chance of ripping it out, getting an infection or migration/rejection. 4.clean it correctly and not with alcohol. 5. by the way the more scar tissue you have the higher chance of migration and then rejection. So if I were you id wait and talk to the piercer don't just gt it don't because you want it, everyone's different and some people aren't meant to have one. Life is unfair suck it up and find something else you like. It sucks but that's the way it is

The same thing happened to mine, but it was not my fault at all, It just migrated because the piercer did it wrong. They pierced it way too shallow so it moved. I took it out before it would just tear the skin and fall out. I went to a professional piercer and he said I can get it done again in 6 months- a year. He said it wouldn't hurt anymore than the first time.

I had the same thing happen. Mine migrated and I could see the jewelry through the thinnest layer of skin. I took my belly bar out today but I was wondering if anyone knows how to reduce the swelling? It looks pretty red and infected? Thanks

ive had it pierced 2 times and mine came out each time. some skins are ment to have a belly ring. it will reject it i understand you like it but my opinion it just isnt worth having it done again i have a big purple line from having it done again and its alot more painful the second time around!

Your bellybutton is rejecting it. TAKE IT OUT. I got mine done and it rejected, it will keep coming out farther and farther until it rips out, mine ripped out and its all scared and ugly now. This girl that does piercings told me to let it reject and come out or else it won't heal right; she said if I let it come out then it will heal right back to normal and I can get it redone in a couple weeks, so I did and never healed right. I would just take it out. If you want your belly done you can pierce the bottom. And if you already have the bottom done you can pierce the top. Good luck(:

Same thing happened to me! The skin all came off and only a little piece of skin was holding my ring in place :( I don't think I'm going to get it re done for fear the same thing is going to happen I had it for almost a year and it was fine until I went in a hot tub and an hour later all the skin was gone maybe it was happening and I didn't realize it until then but yeah I'm very sad I loved my belly piercing! :(

I pierced my own belly button it doing fine needs a little more time to heal but I didn't get enough skin in it, so I want to take it out and re-do-it it's in the same spot I pierced it at I no for sure. Do you think it would be OK if I let it close up and got it professionally done?
