so i gat a call yesterday at work 2nd time even though the first time i asked them not to from general revenue corp .. saying that they are taking me to court to recover a debt supposedly owed to a school i went to in 1998 i've asked them repeatedly to send me info reguarding the debt because several people calling from the company in addition to cursing me told me it was for a credit card .. ... they never sent me any information .. i have reported them to the ftc for the abuse and not sending me info when requestied with no action that i know of .... i am a single mother with 2 kids and barely make enough to squeak by .. is there any way to stop this .. i attempted payment arrangements just to stopp everything but the amount they were asking for was way tooo much 500 to start .. i live in michigan does anyone know what i can do thanks

I would try reporting them to the better business bureau. And get the name and employee number of the people that call you.

Telling them on the phone to do anything has no effect.

Write a letter to them to tell them not to contact you again on this matter. They will or should not contact you unless they are going to take you to court.

Also in writing ( don't accept or offer to pay without knowing what it is) demand proof of debt, again telling them over the phone is a waste of time.

They can not garnish any pay without a judgement thought he court
