My Whirlpool washer is old but I haven't had trouble from it until now. Model# A5550XPW7... serial#CX2964691.
It leaves water in the tub at the end of the wash and rinse cycle. More water with each cycle. Yesterday I took off the hoses and checked for blockage and nothing. It drained the standing water from the tub but when I washed today it left about 2 in. of water so I ran it without clothes and used a screwdriver to watch the spin cycle. It didn't drain at all. It drained itself by spining. It didn't hum or anything before spinning like it was trying to drain but couldn't. I'm not sure if this particular model always does this. What could be the problem? It does seem to be spinning slower than usual. I'm assuming because of all the water in the tub.
REALLY need help on this. Use washer everyday and will have to fix it myself.(single mom)
I have checked hoses. Not it. How could it be the pump? All of the water is draining out except for a couple inches. It's like there is a shut off how much water or how much time the water has to come out.
Is there something to check in that area? Is that the job the pump does, to allow only so much water out? It's the same on all water levels. Why would it block up just the last few inches of water?

Many units do drain during the spin cycle. If not draining out completely, check the drains hoses ant the pump to make sure they are clean. If they are, the pump could be bad
